Well we have been working feverishly to finish the back porch, put in our powder room and move the laundry up to the main level of the house. So far we have installed the cement board on the floor, insulated the walls and roughed in some plumbing and electrical. Been a long couple days and crazy around our house. The plan for the back porch is to do a wall of cabinets across from the powder room and washer dryer and for a pantry. On the other side of the staircase we plan to do a wall of storage for shoes and coats.
We are tiling the whole back porch in a chocolate brown to match the color of the hardwood flooring and will even out and lower the ceiling to 8 feet the same as the rest of the house. Not sure what color to paint yet but I think some shade of blue to accent the washer and dryer and contrast the dark brown floors. Can't wait until we are at that stage.
Also this week we have done all the finishing touches on the trim upstairs with the white paint, stained the front stair railing and all the wood in the living room. Looks great thus far.
Need to go and get passport photos this week and get that renewed as soon as possible. Also have to go in for my monthly bloodwork and screening, love getting poked and drained of my blood every month, sucks!
We need to build some walls today and frame the bathroom and pantry area and then start on the ceiling frame and get that insulated. I have to uninstall the baseboard heater in the back and we have Adam coming in next week from Direct Energy to extend our duct run into the back porch so we will finally have heat back there. That will be nice when you come in the door.
The house is almost done, a few little touch ups here and there and then yay we are finished except for the basement which will have to wait for a year or so and then it will be one huge all useful and beautiful house.
I think today may be a day off and we can relax for once this week. Neither of us slept great last night. But I am afraid that Matt was up half the night, poor thing, he was so sore from lifting dry wall and doing shit this week.
Well I need to get my act together today and get started here, been up for a few hours and have nothing done as of yet. I need to get laundry folded and take the dogs for a walk soon. For now I am going to relax a little bit longer and have another cup of coffee. Have a great day all and may your weekend be fabulous.

Been too long since I have written
Hello, I know it has been a long time since I have written a thing in here and I apologize for that, so let me catch you all up on the gaybors and our lives for the last few months and what has been going on with our lives and what we have been up to.
Well from our anniversary, which was July 6th until September I was actually quite sick and back and forth to hospitals and specialists and the doctor and it was quite scary for both Matt and I. I was having troubles with chest pain and shortness of breath and coughing so much stuff up, they thought at the time I had lung cancer and I ended up going for a biopsy on my lungs which was quite painful and a day surgery. I guess when I got home I was quite out of it still and a little funny with actions and what I was doing and saying, or so I was told, the whole day was a blank to me.
I also was told at that time I may have had a couple other cancers that they wanted to check for, I have put all the other tests on hold right at the moment, because sometimes not knowing is the best thing and a little less stressful. I do have to go back to the lung cancer specialist every three months for a check up and breathing tests as there are some dark spots on my lungs and I am still being treated for the Horners syndrome and chronic headaches. Anyhow that was most of our summer in a nutshell.
As for the rest of the time since then we have been working our butts off on the house. We have stuccoed and painted the front of the house red and done the window frames in a gloss black out front. Laid all new bamboo flooring on the second floor. Finished the ceiling treatment in the living and dining room. Repainted the living room, dining room, kitchen walls.
Done some electrical in the house, new lights above the island, new ceiling fan in the master bedroom, installed heaters in the bathroom and front mudroom. Wehave also put new spindles and railing on the staircase, wallpapered the entire hall and stairwell, installed baseboards and window and door trim and painted it all throughout the entire house, sanded the treads on the stairs and painted the back and sides and spindles a bright white. Installed new granite counter tops and installed a new hood fan in the kitchen, touched up stain on all cabinets and framed out the wall oven and microwave cabinet.
We have also installed a new toilet and vanity in our washroom up stairs. Finally painted the master bedroom and installed our closet organizer which I built. Redid the front yard and front paver patio this summer. Built a mantle and fireplace for the dining room, hung floating shelves and pictures in the house.
We also had Matts parent come to visit for three weeks in mid September which was lovely, they did not stay here but did come over a few times for a visit and Matt went out to see them as well in Oshawa a couple time and we also went to Oshawa for dinner once and to go and see a play with his cousin Gillie, Aunt Barbara and Mom and Dad Allsopp, love them!
For thanksgiving we went out to Matts cousins and met the whole family for a huge dinner, I do believe there was 26 people there and it was a blast. His whole family is just amazing and they all stick together and seem to get along very well. Can't wait to see them all again.
So yes we have been extremely busy and doing stuff here in the house so I apologize for not being on here and writing as much as I use to , though I am going to try and get back into the habit as it is therapeutic for me and also helps me to keep in touch and let my friends know that I am still here and kicking and will be for quite some time.
For now I shall sign off and I promise to be back soon and right some more. Have a great day and a great week and please keep reading, Love you all and thank you for your support this summer for those of you who knew what was happening.

Matts' Birthday and the last long weekend of summer
I can not believe how fast this summer seemed to pass us by, it is just amazing and crazy, where the hell does time go and why does it seem to go by so much faster in the summer than it does it the winter.
We did not have the greatest summer, a lot of rain and a bit of humidity, and a lot of mixed weather on many days, the garden this year did very well and everything grew amazing, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes and almost everything in an abundance which was just unbelievable in every way. Made several batches of pickles, spicy pickled beans and sweet pickles already.
I have also started to make our own perogies and made approximately 150 the other day, half potato, cheddar and onion and the other half jerk chicken. Last night we had Mara, Jeff and the kids over for Barbeque and Wayne dropped by as well. Matt made his ribs and rotisserie chicken. It was amazing and great and we had food a plenty, including beans from the garden, cucumber and tomato salad from the garden.
Great way to spend the last weekend of the summer.
Saturday night Matt and I went out for his birthday, we went to Freds Not Here for dinner and I have to say it is the first restaurant I have eaten at in Toronto over the last 10 years where I could not say a bad word but was so impressed by everything and so happy with the food, prices, drinks, and especially the service. Wow if you are ever in Toronto or you live here, go and try eat, 10000 better than the Keg by far.
Matt and I then went out for drinks and had the greatest night for his birthday, we went to Boutique on Church street and just had a great time. All and all a good weekend.
Health for me has not been the greatest this summer and been a hard time some days for me, but I am a fighter and get through it day by day, Matt has been great and helped me a lot and I am so thankful for that and for him. I have been back and forth to doctors, hospitals and specialists, this week I have two more appointments and then I am hopefully done for a while.
Hate this whole thing and I will explain everything one day soon when I am good with it all. Anyhow, I hope you all had a great long weekend and a lovely week, yay, the kids are back in school starting tomorrow, happy days.

Another Long Weekend
Well it is August Long weekend and we haven't done too much, primarily because I am still not feeling well, this is really starting to suck and I am definitely getting tired of feeling like shit and dragging Matt down with me and not being able to do as much as I would like around the house. I have been doing little things here and there and just going with the flow when I have energy to do so.
Last week I managed to get a bit of energy and do some work for Lindsey and that was nice, what a pleasure that woman is and so amazing for a young woman. I stained there fence and redid her back door for her. She gave me a screen door for our back door , thank god, we really needed one and I took a dingy old brown screen door and painted it a high gloss black, fucking love it. Matt has been doing stuff around the house as well, he has done flashing around the back door and around the garage door and also sprayed our water proving stuff on the foundation walls, This has finally stopped our basement from leaking and we are both ecstatic about that. It was getting to be a real pain in the ass that everytime it rained we had to mop up water and live with a musty smell for a week. Sucked!
The garden is coming along great and I have already canned spicy pickled beans, today I am making garlic dill pickles and last night we had cherry tomatoes fresh from the garden, everyday we eat fresh raspberries and are loving it. Boc choy is ready to pick and then we can have fresh for dinner.
The front yard is totally done ad hopefully this week we are going to start the cement on the side to fix grade issues and then do the stucco on the front of the house, it is just hard to plan what we are doing when I never know what energy I am going to have or how much I can do on a daily basis.
But once all this is done, I think it will be a dramatic difference for the look of the house. I have done a sand on the brick walk way and we are making plans for the planters which will go along the old joint sidewalk, hoping to get that done before the new people move in next door. Also need to get some wood and build the divider wall between the two doors. Will be so nice when we are done and everything is complete.
Also have to go and do some shopping this week and get our hood fan for the kitchen and decide on the counter tops as well. It will be so fucking nice to finally finish shit and then next winter hopefully everything is done and we can just get on with life and maybe I will finally be successful onn getting a job, who the hell knows.
September is going to be filled with appointments again and back and forth to a few different specialists here and there, yay!
I am so tired of doctors and hospitals at this point in my life. I just want to live and say fuck it. Maybe I will just decide to do that soon and do what I want for a change. Oh well we will see.
A quick happy pride to Vancouver and a thank you to all who read. Have a great weekend and a fabulous day.

July has been a shit month so far
Well my July has been a totally shitty month thus far and I am still not 100%. I started with a cold the first of July and then turned to pneumonia and now a lung infection. I spent our second wedding anniversary in the hospital after getting so sick, then several trips to the doctor the following week and another day and night spent in the ER on the Friday. Now the last week has been doctors and specialists and tests and more tests, my damn arms feel like they have permanent holes in them from all the blood work they have done.
This also means I have not had the energy or the time to do fuck all around the house or look for work, which really sucks, because we both need to get back to work and get into a routine of some sort. I think life has been to disorganized for a while now.
But for now I need to concentrate on getting better, I have more tests coming up and also more appointments with the doctors and specialists which is taking a lot out of me and I am so tired of travelling downtown and dealing with hospitals and shit nurses with attitudes.
In the end it has all been a basic waste of time in many ways and I am no further ahead than I was at the beginning of the month, so much for modern medicine. Oh well I still have the best family doctor that anyone could ask for and he is so attentive and fabulous. I am very lucky when it comes to that and I also have a great husband and fabulous friends who have all been there and helped in whatever ways they could.
I hate being sick and am so tired some days I d not even get off the couch. I am not like that at all and usually a very active person and one who loves to keep busy and be doing something all the time, whether it is the house, gardening, landscaping or just walking the girls or a bike ride with Matt.
So an update on all this, I was in the hospital on July 6th , our second wedding anniversary and then back in hospital July 12th, sucked, let me tell you, and in between that I was at the doctors many times and since then to visit two specialists. Some days I just can't breath and am so short of breath and have bad chest pains. The good news is I do not have Pneumonia or Bronchitis, so that is the good news.
I have more tests to go through and more doctors and specialists to go and visit but I am sure whatever they find out I will handle and get through as I do everything else in my life. I do love a challenge and will figure it out as it comes my way.
Thank you for reading, be back to write more soon. Have a great week.

Pride in Toronto, and our neighborhood
Well last weekend was PRIDE and we had a blast. Great long weekend of drinks, friends and entertainment. It was amazing. On Friday night we met up with Wayne and went to see Carol Pope, who is just fantastic and a great singer to me a huge gay icon, Love her! We then went to our favorite bar, Boutique and had a couple drinks and great fun with Wayne as it was his birthday weekend as well, He turned 50 on Wednesday, Happy Birthday!
Saturday afternoon was down to the street fair and walk around after the dyke march and check out all the tents, met up with Wayne and later on with Nancy, had a great time and went for a nice dinner at Golden Diner, love that their meals are reasonably priced and you get a great proportion. Had fun and then the four of us walked the streets for a bit more and went to Boutique again for a couple drinks and visit with our favorite bartender Issac and our favorite waiter Will. It was a great time until Ann showed up, Matt eventually got frustrated and just wanted to leave.
I am not sure what Ann has a problem with and get so tired of trying to guess and entertain her, it is like pulling teeth when you try to have a conversation with her and she just brings everyone down with her attitude, I hate it.
She sits there and you try to talk to her and she has no response and then turns around to Nancy and bitches that we don't talk to her and communicate, whatever!
Sunday we went downtown after the parade, no we did not attend the parade because it is just the same year after year and it gets pretty boring, next year we will go because Toronto is holding world Pride, yay, can't fucking wait for that, will be so many hot men form all over the world, yes I am married but am not dead, of course I look, who doesn't?
We had all the intentions of going to see En Vogue on Sunday night but got there a little late and the line up was just crazy, over a block long, no way, I hate lineups.
Matt and I went to the Eagle and had a drink there to check out the renovations, looks great but doesn't really feel like the Eagle anymore, maybe a little to modern for a space which is suppose to be a leather bar, we did not need another dance bar in Toronto, whatever! We then toddled over to Boutique and met the nicest couple Matthew and Melissa , fabulous people, sat and visited with them for several hours, was immensely enjoyable night.
We spent the holiday Monday recovering and me getting a flu or cold of some sort, I have been sick as a dog and am not getting any better at the moment. I have not been sleeping as it hurts so much when I cough that it wakes me up. It also wakes Matt up sometimes and then I feel even worse. Sneezing, coughing and chest pain from hell! I hate being sick and not able to do anything. I am not good at sitting around and relaxing! And Matt is constantly yelling at me and nagging me to rest and get better, he should know me by now.
Got some good news on Sunday from our neighbors that we do not really get along with too well, they are selling, yay! Apparently they have purchased a house in Peterborough and take possession on August 15th, their house went on the market yesterday. Who know who will move in, but I must say I do believe at this point anyone will be better then the unsociables! Hope they also get the price they want so it will tell us more of what our house is worth and you never know, if we got the right price , could sell, but we love our neighborhood and our neighbors for the most part.
Well that is all I have to say for now, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

The front yard is done, and other surprises
Well for the past week I have been landscaping the front yard. Finished it all today and boy does it look great.
I dug up all the former grass which was uneven , badly graded and actually looked pretty shitty with clover throughout 70 percent of it. This took me about 8 hours. Then day two I lay down all new top soil, then a thin layer of gravel where the bricks were going and then leveled it all off and layed the bricks and then planted trees, shrubs and flowers, a great 10 hours spent. Day three was spent sifting through the old grass and separating all the dirt off of it and putting down another layer of top soil.
Now I think we have a front garden fit for a king. Love it.
Did I mention Matt and Jeff watched me work and supervised me the entire project, no worries they were great company along with the two dogs.
Matt could not lift anything with his recent back surgery and Jeff has had back problems as well this last month, two biggest guys in the neighborhood and they watch me lifting, digging and moving bricks, funny when you think about it.
Glad for them both though and rather they be healthy and watch and keep me company and I enjoyed it , because in the end I did it and am damn proud of it.
Check out my pics of the yard on face book.
As for other things , we had quite the challenge after last weeks down pour of rain here in Toronto and this was not a pretty challenge at all and kept us busy all dam day.
Our sewer backed up into the basement from the street so we were ankle deep in water and other things, good thing not much was down there, after we got it all cleaned up and by we I mean Matt did most of the cleaning, I hauled out the remaining boxes on to the back deck, emptied them all and sorted through the last bit of stuff we have to unpack, and made sure nothing was wet. elevated the washer, dryer and folding table onto 2 x 4's, so they are off the ground. and don't rust.
Then Matt went to Home Depot and bought some stop back up plugs for the drains downstairs and installed them, so far no more issues. Thank you Sasquatch.
So that was our drama for the week and now tomorrow I can get to work on the back yard, finish the eaves and then continue to look for an ornate old cast iron fence for the front yard.
Wish me luck, have a great night and a super week.
